Since then, the region has perpetuated and developed this heritage, setting an example in its sustainable and responsible approach with, among other things, an ambitious energy policy (a biomass power plant and an energy mix that is more than a third renewable), an innovative transport policy with a hybrid dedicated-lane transport system since 2014, which will switch to hydrogen in 2026.
This commitment is one of the reasons why Metz was chosen to host the G7 Environment and Oceans Summit in 2019.
